Qantas has told staff it will be transparent about outsourcing plans if it lands a deal with Accenture to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence in its operations, confirming it is in talks to shift some roles to India.

In a memo to employees after The Australian Financial Review revealed that the airline was considering moving up to 1000 positions as part of discussions with the consulting giant, Qantas said no decision on cutting jobs had been made, but it had ambitions to “modernise the way we work”.
